Being a fan of Avengers, we always dream to
live in a highly technology driven city, i.e., someplace like Wakanda, but in a
sudden reality hit, Alas! It's only possible in dreams. Have you ever thought
what if someday you really get to visit such a place? Ok, let’s proceed, what
if such a place really does exist! …Yes, you read it perfectly right, such a
dream city is being built by Saudi Arabia's crown prince Mohammed Bin Salman.
The word NEOM itself is composed of two words
‘neo’ meaning new and ‘m’ which has been taken from the word meaning future, it
is a vision of a new future, and can be better addressed as a dream-like
future. It is located at the crossroads of the world Northwest of Saudi Arabia.
It has been said that 40 percent of the world’s population will be able to
reach NEOM in less than four hours, approximately 10% of the world’s trade
already flows through the Red Sea. Flying into NEOM’s new airport, London is
only five hours away, Dubai and Cairo two, Zurich five and a half, that interesting,
right! a place where entrepreneurship and innovation will chart the course for
a new future. As claimed in Neom’s dedicated website, it will include towns and
cities, ports and enterprise zones, research centers, sports and entertainment
venues, and tourist destinations. It will be the home and workplace for more
than a million citizens from around the world. It will cover a total area of
26,500 km2, and is aimed to be completed by 2030, with the first
phase of the project to be completed by 2025. It is said to operate independently from the “existing
governmental framework” having its own labor law and tax system and an
autonomous judicial system.
The Line
The most astonishing
part of Neom going to this 170 km long project. This project is about building
a city like a line that extends up to 170 km. It’s a great initiative that
preserves 95% of the nature within Neom. It will be a car, street and carbon
emission free city, which will totally depend on renewable resources for
energy. Saudi Arabia claims to create 380,000 new job opportunity through this
project and the city will be able to accommodate 1 million people. The daily
need services will be available in 5 mins and the transport will based on rail
system, which will allow citizens to reach one end of the city to another in
just 20 minutes.
